We might get a clearing of the clouds this afternoon, but we can expect them to return this evening, according to the National Weather Service. Thankfully the heaviest rain and thunderstorms shouldn’t roll through until after midnight, but be sure to carry that umbrella just in case a stray shower comes to the nabe, locals.
Here’s some news to help you get though hump day:
- The United States Postal Service’s Pratt Station Post Office may have found a permanent home at 609 Myrtle Avenue, according to Brownstoner. The move would be just five blocks from its long-time location at 524 Myrtle, one of eight possible locations scrutinized by the USPS. We’ll be sure to give you an update when we find out more information.
- As part of BLDG 92′s “Making it in NYC: The Era of New Manufacturing” exhibit, the Brooklyn Navy Yard is offering a free panel discussion about manufacturing tomorrow at 6 p.m. tomorrow. Dana Mauriello, Etsy’s Director of Human Scale Labs, will discuss the experiences of makers and best practices of entrepreneurs. From personal production to outside manufacturing, the talk should have it all.
- Want to get out of the house to start your weekend? Be part of a conversation with Khaled Hosseini, author of “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” as he presents his new book “And the Mountains Echoed” at St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn on Friday. The $15 tickets for the Greenlight Bookstore event include a copy of the book, which will be discussed at 7 p.m. in the college’s Tuohy Auditorium at 245 Clinton Avenue.
